6 CARE TIPS FOR A LONGER LASTING RESISTANCE BANDS

In the previous article, we enumerated the reasons what sets us apart from other brands of resistance bands. But just because a product is high quality does not mean we are not concerned on maintaining it. So, we are giving you some care tips for you to have a longer lasting resistance band!

1. PREVENT EXPOSING THE RESISTANCE BANDS TO SHARP POINTS AND EDGES

The primary cause of resistance bands failure is the presence of the tiny nicks and cuts which worsen as the bands get stretched with constant use.

To avoid this, make sure to always use the padded door anchor whenever possible. This will protect the band from being in direct contact with sharp objects and edges like metal fences, concrete edges, protruding nails and even jewelries or accessories.

2. AVOID EXPOSING THE RESISTANCE BANDS TO EXTREME TEMPERATURES

Exposure to direct sunlight will shorten the lifespan of the resistance bands. It is best to store the bands in a cool, dry and shaded place away from heat sources.

Same is true for extremely cold temperatures. Do not submerge the bands in water as it can contribute to the degradation of the material.

    3. NEVER STRETCH THE RESISTANCE BAND OVER 2.5 TIMES THEIR LENGTH

AB Home Fitness resistance bands measure about 120 cm. Stretching the bands past 2.5 times is length (~300 cm), may cause early fatigue and product failure.

      4. DO NOT USE RESISTANCE BANDS ON UNEVEN SURFACES

Many resistance band exercises involve stepping and sitting on the bands directly. Make sure not to put it against rough surfaces like concrete and use soft-soled shoes to avoid damaging the latex tubes.

        5. USE DAMP CLOTH TO CLEAN THE BANDS

Do not use strong chemical products to clean the bands as they might cause the latex to become brittle or damaged.

          6. DO NOT PUT ANY STRAIN ON THE RESISTANCE BANDS WHEN IT IS IN STORAGE

Avoid putting any heavy object atop the resistance bands to avoid pinching of the tubes. A pinched tube band will become more susceptible to product failure which can be dangerous to use.

Resistance bands, like any other fitness equipment, experience normal wear and tear. But by implementing the above care tips we can prolong the usability of the bands.
